Hello Theatre Friends!
Sorry for the lack of blogging recently! I've been very busy in the office writing curriculum that integrates theatre with literacy and science lessons. Our office has received two (one state and one federal) $1 million dollar grants to continue this work at the K - 5 level. It's good work, but has been consuming most of my time recently. My new thing is using tableau to teach academic vocabulary. I'll be visiting Valencia Park Elementary and Marston Middle School to lead workshops in "Using Engaging Theatre Strategies to Teach Core Curriculum." It's a great way make theatre relevant to the other teachers on your campus. Just further proof that the arts are the intervention...
So Many Shows!
We are getting into full production season for a lot of sites. Encourage your students to visit another school and see a show. Many theatre teachers are offering discounts for students from other programs. This is a great way to continue to strengthen our sense of community!
